I have asked him about it and apparently for the amount of work it would take, it's just not financially viable. Jon Bonne's New French Wines treads similar territory but it's a two volume extravaganza that costs £65.
I believe that Picpoul is more semblant of the original Occitan spelling and Piquepoul French. Hopefully I don't have that flipped, but in using the older spelling, they perhaps thought to avoid naming issues à la Prosecco/Glera, Tokaj/Friulano or the idiocy of Cariñena that was finally resolved.
Taking Notes! Thank you!!
Enjoyable, as always (like Picpoul). As a sidenote, I wish Jefford would update The New France.

What a pity but I can see how that'd be the case. Thanks for the tip, perhaps I'll treat myself for my birthday this month.
I do love a Picpoul on a hot summer day. The salinity in the wine always makes me happy. Now I am desperate to get my hands on a red to try!
“Piquepoul…”
Irritate a chicken, maybe? 😅

Ahh! Fascinating.
