I love it there so much. Staying at The Yeatman is our favorite indulgence when we go to Porto.

Me too, it truly is a special place. I feel very lucky we get to stay there when we visit.

Nice piece Henry, thanks. After my recent first visit to Portugal I can concur on the heartiness of the food. And the salt cod!

THank God for those steep streets to walk it all off.

Love letter about Porto. Porto and Duoro are both magical and there is so many different ports to discover.

Much like the francesinha, the khachapuri in Georgia, or super burrito in San Francisco is the first thing I eat upon landing and then never touch again for the duration. Classic dish for all the right filthy ways.

Got to have one and then no more.

Worth mentioning the very popular Porto Tonico which is made the same way as G&T but uses white port instead of gin.And at half the alcohol level of a G&T is very refreshing and genuinely Portuguese.

The wife and I were lucky enough to be in Oporto for the vibrant São João festival on the night of 23 rd June and well into the morning of the 24th.

We wondered why everyone was gently hitting everyone else over the head with squeaky toy hammers. We joined in enthusiastically. The fireworks at mid night on the bridge were fantastic.

I was told afterwards that if you were tapped on the head three times it meant someone fancied you.

I lost count!

Worth mentioning the rickety tram that takes you down river in less than half an hour to two blue flag beaches.

The doctors moaning about Brexit were quite right, there is an awful lot of justification to moan about Brexit
