Please do keep drinking the blends up your way. I shudder to think that if British were to stop, then Sherry producers would start trying to shuck this substance upon us domestically.
In my early teens I used to help my mum deliver the Xmas mail.I was allowed to use an official red PO bike with an enormous black wire cage on the front.
Nearly every house in Cefn Mawr offered me a “ small “ glass of cream sherry.
I remember losing control and landing on a snowy roundabout with letters and parcels strewn around.
I lay in the snow and after ages, picked up the mail and finished the round very slowly.
Such a sherry fan but agree it's kind of unfair to try and write Grannies out of the narrative when they're the ones who introduced so many of us to it. Mine had sherry and cards afternoons seemingly every day and often invited me - wish I got those sorts of invitations now!
Boy oh boy do I love cream sherry. I had my first only a few months ago, a bottle of Lustau "East India Solera" Sherry, which I had no idea was "cream sherry" until I looked it up. But it was AWESOME. Only pure syrupy PX was better. I've been trying to develop a better palate for Oloroso and Amantillado, but I suspect I'll forever deep down love the sweet stuff the best when it comes to sherry.

Amen to this!
Very nice, of course, but I don't keep it in the fridge for the same reason that I don't keep rocks of crack lying around - it's just too more-ish.
BRISTOL. CREAM. Just the best.
Yeah, you’re not wrong. It is a deliciously illicit libation.

An early lesson on the drawbacks of alcohol!
I still like Morrisons Palo Cortado though.

Your granny sounds fun.
Croft Original Pale Cream has been our Christmas go-to for decades, preferably in a litre size!
That'll make Xmas go with a swing.

Lustau East India is superb. Just checked the price £10.99 for 50cl. Incredible value
I so so approve of this post.
