I am delighted to have a guest post from Genevieve Verdigel about her experiences of Harry’s Bar in Venice with her boyfriend, the late restaurateur Russell Norman.
Beautiful piece. Embarking on our first ever trip to Venice in few weeks. I've been reading lots of Russell's recommendations (his Venice cookbook has been great). This article will definietly linger in my mind when we pop into Harry's Bar. Thanks for writing it. Best wishes.
Thank you Genevieve for your words. They mean more to you than to me, and yet they mean so much to me. You write beautifully and the world is lucky to have you. I’m deeply sorry you went so abruptly from blessed to unlucky. Best wishes.
What a brilliantly evocative and beautifully written piece, thanks to you both for writing and publishing this. I had the pleasure of visiting Venice with Russell once for a piece I was writing on the backstreet bacari (guided by RN of course) and it makes me smile to imagine him pointing out all these tiny details about Harry’s Bar.

Thank you for your kind words. I am sure you will have a wonderful time in Venice. The sunlight is always perfect at this time of year.

Fond - albeit vague - memories of their icy cold dry martinis….
I have never been. Must amend that soon.
Wonderful.
Isn't it just?

I bet that was enormous fun. I don't suppose you have a link to the article do you? I'd love to read.
Sadly I don’t - it was for EasyJet Traveller magazine and I don’t think they are online but you might be able to find somewhere
